Inquiry after two young people were slapped in the ambulance (video)

The Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Caracal Court ordered the beginning of the investigations for abusive behavior, after the appearance in the public space of some images in which two young people would be physically and verbally assaulted by an employee of the Olt County Ambulance Service, the County Police Inspectorate (IPJ) said on Monday.

At the same time, checks are also made to establish the veracity of some accusations against some policemen, given that the two young people, who were sanctioned with a fine after addressed the insults of a neighbor, claimed to call 112 that they were attacked by the police.

The incident took place on the evening of June 8, in the commune of Stoicănești, where the police from the Rural Dăneasa section intervened following a call to 112 who reported a conflict between a man and two young people from the locality.

According to IPJ Olt, ‘from the first checks, it turned out that the two young people, aged 16 and 17, were under the influence of alcoholic beverages and would have addressed the insults of some people from the locality’.

The young people were sanctioned contraventionally with a fine of 100 lei each. According to some judicial sources, the teenagers were led to the police headquarters, where they were fined and then left.

Subsequently, around 9:40 pm, it was also claimed that the teenagers were physically assaulted by the police.

In this context, IPJ Olt said that checks are held to establish the veracity of the accusations, and the young people were transported to the Slatina County Emergency Hospital.

Regarding the images published online, « in which an employee of the Ambulance Service is surprised by addressing the insult and physically assaulting one of the young people, the competent prosecutor’s office was notified, which ordered the start of the investigations in terms of committing the crime of abusive behavior, » informed IPJ Olt.

Judicial sources said that, after being transported to Slatina for medical evaluation, the young people would have been admitted for a short time to the Psychiatry Section of the Slatina County Emergency Hospital and then were taken home by a relative.

« IPJ Olt addresses with maximum seriousness any notification regarding alleged abuses or non -compliant behaviors from their own personnel or other partner institutions and reaffirms the commitment for transparency, legality and respect for the rights of citizens, » the quoted statement said.
