Injured by armed robbery on Jeweler in Grimbergen: three suspects arrested (Grimbergen)
On Tuesday an armed robbery was committed on the jewelry store of Laer on the Hogesteenweg, in the center of Grimbergen. One person would have been injured. The police are on the spot, the case is currently sealed. After a chase, the police were able to pick up three of the four robbers.
The armed robbery on the jewelry store on the Hogesteenweg in Grimbergen took place around 11.40 am. During the robbery, the operator of the jewelry store would have been injured. « We can confirm that an armed robbery has been committed on a jewelry store in Grimbergen, » says Ingrid Moriau, spokesperson for the Public Prosecutor’s Office Halle-Vilvoorde. « There are four perpetrators. The federal judicial police of Halle-Vilvoorde is on site, just like the judicial lab. »
Witnesses heard glass breaking and saw three men running the business. They jumped in a ready -made car, which then drove away at high speed. « Suddenly I heard glass breaking, presumably from the showcases that they caught up in, » says a witness. « Not much later three men walked outside, all dressed in a white overall. They jumped further in a white BMW with Portuguese number plates, a 7-series I think. They tore away at high speed. »

« We went to look inside and found an older man with injuries to the face, probably the manager, » the witness continues. « He was taken to the hospital. You don’t expect something like that in broad daylight. And certainly not in the center where there is so much movement. »
Three suspects arrested
After a chase, the police were able to pick up three of the four robbers on the Brussels Ring, near Strombeek. « Three suspects could be arrested by the police, » says Ingrid Moriau, spokesperson for the Halle-Vilvoorde public prosecutor’s office.
According to the federal police, the arrest of the three suspects took place on the exit from the Brussels inner ring to the A12, near Strombeek. The road there was closed for a short time due to the police intervention.
