Influencer and her father tap against sexism in ‘Today inside’

It was certainly not the first time that women -unfriendly comments were made in Today Inside. In the talk show with Johan Derksen, René van der Gijp and Wilfred Genee, things are regularly said that, according to many, cannot get through.

Yet the 22-year-old influencer Annemarie Lekkerkerker wanted to pronounce after hearing a sexist comment that René van der Gijp made about singer Ilse de Lange. « When is this malicious misogyne program removed from the tube, after all that happened, » she said in one short video On video platform Tiktok. « I don’t understand why these boys still get broadcasting time. »

Lekkerkerker received positive reactions to the video, but also a lot of negative. « I received reactions that as a woman I don’t have humor, that I just have to turn off the TV and that I am left nagging, » she says on the phone NRC.

Singer Anouk, who was sitting at the table during the sexist comment, also became the subject of the discussion. « Many people thought they should have pronounced themselves. Then the attention shifts from the man who makes the comment. Men are also supposed to speak out, but all guests at the VI table laughed along. »

Part two

Lekkerkerker made that thinking. She started talking to her 71-year-old father Michiel about her reaction video and the fragment of VI. They came up with the idea of sharing the core of the conversation dt them on screen, in a ‘part two. ‘ Father and daughter respond to the verdict in the video in VI and the reactions that Lekkerkerkerer received in response to her first video. « I am surprised that things like this are still being accepted in OmroEpland, » says father. « Women are victims of inequality, women are raped, to femicide. Every form of disrespect of women contributes to this, » he says in front of the camera, while his daughter stands behind him. The second video has since been viewed almost 800,000 times on TIKTOK within one day, and received 500,000 at that time views On Instagram. Lekkerkerker: « My father is a tropical doctor and a lot to help women. He recognizes the problems and we often talk about women’s inequality. Then I thought: perhaps it is good if people can see that a man can also speak out about things like this. He prepared well by writing all the text on a leaf. I did nothing, everything came from him, » she says.

« I want to show everyone, and especially to boys and men, that there are also men who speak about sexism and can be an exemplary figure in this. We also have to take minor incidents seriously and not shy away from large terms such as rape and femicide. We want to show that a father and daughter can also talk about that, » says Lekkerkerker.

The video is shared by many influencers and organizations on Instagram and Tiktok. Lekkerkerker is best known for its short satirical tap sketches, mainly focused on her generation. She has built up a large range with nearly 200,000 followers on Tiktok and around 80,000 on Instagram. She gets hundreds of thousands views Per video. Lekkerkerker: « I have also experienced inequality as a woman and I am worried about men who do not show respect to women. I wanted to use my platform for this. Many people, men and women, gratefully responded that my father and I shared this. I hope we give up a powerful message. Even men can speak about sexism. »
