The weather is expected in the next few hours as the bad weather, as the Italian meteorological service called it, will affect our country until Saturday morning. The weather system will move northeast by the coast of Tunisia, affecting several areas of Greek territory.

Specifically, it is foreseen from Thursday night (15-5-2025) until Saturday morning (17-5-2025) to bring in places of heavy rains and thunderstorms to the west, central and northern Greece as well as with high winds in the eastern and southern country.

According to meteo.gr / National Observatory’s forecasts, rain (with local muddy) are expected on Friday (16/05), locally stormy southeast winds in the Aegean and very increased concentrations of African dust in the south.

In more detail:

Rain will occur mainly in the western, central and northern parts of the country, which will be accompanied by thunderstorms in the northwest. At the same time, there will be significant quantities of African dust, mainly in the south.

The winds in the southern and eastern Aegean will blow from southeast directions with average intensity 7 and local 8 beaufort. In the Ionian Sea, until noon, 5-6 beaufort and local sections 7 beaufort will blow east to southeast winds.

Estimated maximum gusts of wind (in km/h) in the morning and noon/afternoon hours of Friday 16/05 will exceed 90 km/h.

According to the EMY Extraordinary Forecast Bulletin:

1. On the night of Thursday (15-05-25) to Friday (16-05-25) in the area

2. On Friday (16-05-25) from the front of the night until night in northern Ionian (Corfu area, Diapontian Islands, Paxos, Lefkada), Epirus, Western Solidarity and West and Central Macedonia

3. From Friday afternoon (16-05-25) and until Saturday morning (17-05-25) in eastern Macedonia, Thrace and northeast Aegean (Lemnos area).

B. Locally stormy southeast winds (8 with 9 beaufort) on Friday (16-05-25) in the Aegean and Crete and until noon in southern Ionian and southern Peloponnese.

C. Meteorological conditions favor the transfer of African dust in the southern country (mainly in Crete, Cyclades, Dodecanese and southern Peloponnese).
