– Industry is our future

Norway will be a proud industrial nation. At a time marked by international turmoil, climate crisis and technological upheaval, it is Norwegian industrial workplaces that will carry us forward.

The industry creates value, builds local communities, and is part of our national emergency preparedness. The Labor Party has therefore submitted an offensive industrial report with six clear priorities that will equip Norway for the future.

Secondly, we have to invest in the people. The world’s best skilled workers is the backbone of the industry. More people are now applying for vocational subjects, and we follow up with a national competence reform, new loan schemes for continuing education and strengthened tripartite cooperation. Norsk Industri should never lack expertise. As technology and production methods change, the education system must also keep up. We ensure that continuing education becomes available, relevant and attractive- for both young and adults in the industry. That is why we have also given money to 2000 new vocational school places since 2021. Together with the social partners, especially LO and Norsk Industri, we will further develop a strong, organized and competence -building working life.

At the same time, the industry must contribute to the climate fight. Norwegian industry is among the purest in the world, and will lead in the green shift. We focus on offshore wind, CO₂ capture and storage, and support innovative projects through Enova. Climate partnerships provide real emission cuts and new jobs. We must show that it is possible to cut emissions and create value at the same time – and that the green shift does not mean fewer jobs, but better and safer jobs throughout the country.

Finally: Safety. The industry is part of our emergency preparedness. That is why we update the defense -industrial strategy, support capacity extensions and map Norway’s role in allied value chains. A strong industry is also a safe industry. When we focus on Norwegian production, we also build our own ability to stand – both in crisis time and in a more unpredictable world.

The Labor Party has a plan for how the industry will continue to be the backbone in Norway. It is about jobs, value creation and preparedness – but also about believing that the future can be shaped, and that Norway can still be a leading industrial nation in the face of the green and digital shift.

The industry is not just something we have had – that’s what we’re going to live by. And with this new industrial report, the Labor Party has made a plan for just that.
