Increases the holiday budget in the north: – A sign that the region has done reasonably well

It shows a survey conducted by Response Analysis conducted for SpareBank 1 Northern Norway. The survey shows that Norwegians will spend NOK 20,204 on average on this year’s summer vacation, an increase from NOK 17,666 last year.

This is an increase of more than NOK 2,500.

– This is probably a sign that the region has done reasonably well through both pandemia, inflation and rising interest rates. Most of us have good control over the economy, and with good conscience can treat us a nice holiday, says Sølvi Jonas de Jong, bank manager at Sparebank 1 Northern Norway in Alta.

At the same time, the survey shows that in the north we will use somewhat less than the average Norwegian, who plans to spend more than NOK 21,000 on this year’s summer vacation.

At the same time, those who plan to spend both less and more money.

More are going on vacation (?)

  • 12 per cent of the Northerners planning to spend more money this year than last year.

  • 22 percent plan to use less.

  • 58 percent will use about the same.

There are more people planning to spend less money than last year, while average consumption increases by 14 per cent. It thinks you can be because more than last year are going to vacation abroad.

– The proportion of foreign holidays goes up from 29 to 36 per cent. Those who are vacationing abroad have around 50 per cent higher holiday budget than those who only stay in Norway, De Jong says in the press release.

If you are among those who choose Sweden this summer you are not alone. Neighboring is at the top of the Norwegians’ most popular foreign holiday destination. Spain, Greece and Finland then follow suit.
