Increase cooperation to modernize police


Director General of State Police, major managers Ilir Proda, received today at a meeting Francesca Varlese, Program Manager at the EU Delegation in Tirana, Giovanni Pasqua, International Coordinator of the EU4lea project, and Thierry Vigines, an international expert on evolutionary forms of organized crime and scientific police.

The Director General thanked the representatives for the continued support given over the years, from the Mission PAMECA and EU4lea Program, for the increase of the professional capacity of the State Police officers through training and technical assistance.

He emphasized the determination of the State Police to cooperate closely with international partners in order to further enhance the quality of service and strengthen operational capacity. « The State Police welcomes any assistance that contributes to the professionalization and modernization of our structures, » said Proda.

On the other hand, EU4lea representatives expressed their appreciation for the cooperation so far and the willingness to continue the project in its second phase, EU4lea 2. They guaranteed that support for the Albanian police would be even greater.

The EU4lea 2 project is built on the achievements of the first phase and aims to increase the operational performance of Albanian institutions in the fight against organized crime and corruption.

This project is implemented in cooperation by the Italian Ministry of Interior, Civipol (France) and GIZ (Germany), with the co -financing of the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
