In Villeurbanne, caregivers attacked for too long management – Liberation

A new entry into the long litany assaults identified in French firms and hospitals for a few years. Caregivers from a Villeurbanne clinic, in the Lyon suburbs, were attacked by a patient’s family members and two people were placed in police custody, the Rhône prefecture said on Saturday, April 5.

The facts occurred Thursday evening shortly before 9 p.m. in the emergency room of the Médipôle de Villeurbanne clinic, when the members of the family of a patient attacked caregivers, said the prefecture, confirming information from BFMTV Lyon.

Once againthe attackers criticized the caregivers for waiting time for the care of their loved one. Staff members would have received insults, threats and blows, before the attackers were controlled by the police, and two of them were placed in police custody. At least three caregivers were injured, some of whom were initially prescribed a total ten -day work incapacity. Five complaints were filed, three by the caregivers, two by the police, said the prefecture.

This new assault comes as caregivers have alerted long months to growing the growing violence they may be victims of. In October, the order of doctors indicated in a report that practitioners had reported during the year 2023 of 1,581 violence and incidents, compared to 1,244 a year earlier. “This 27 % increase has been unprecedented since the observatory was created in 2002, then deplored the coordinator of the report, Dr. Jean-Jacques Avrane. In the space of two years, violence against doctors have jumped by 50 %. It’s unheard of. « 

Nurses, caregivers or physiotherapists relate similar stories, which are added to already degraded working conditions. Adopted unanimously at the Assembly before the dissolution of June 9, 2024, a bill providing for hardening the sanction of these acts towards health professionals has been waiting for the Senate for a year.
