In Ukraine, the mechanism of informing the population about the quality of the air will be introduced

Ukraine has approved the procedure for informing the population about the quality of air. It determines the list of pollutants and the ranges of their levels to calculate the air quality index.
The corresponding order (No. 590 of March 24, 2025) was registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, reported In the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources.
« This is an important step to ensuring free access to the public to information about air quality in Ukraine in adapted for users format », – noted in the department.
The document sets:
- the list of pollutants by which the quality index is determined;
- ranges of levels of these substances to determine the quality index;
- color and text indicators of the index;
- Recommendations for the population.
Quality Index for any of the pollutants can be defined as:
- « Very bad »;
- « Bad »;
- « Unsatisfactory »;
- « Satisfactory »;
- « Allowable »;
- « Good ».
« Concentration ranges for the quality index are determined on the basis of the normative values of the levels of each pollutant, taking into account WHO recommendations for air quality and taking into account the European Quality Index.
