In the US, doctors with the help of fish skin helped a newborn baby suffering from a life -threatening infection. The girl had a deep wound around her neck, helped to heal fabrics from the fish.

The little American was born three years ago at the 23rd week of pregnancy. The girl was premature and weighed about 400 grams, which made her first 131 day of life in the intensive care departments.

At that time, Eliana developed a life -threatening infection that caused a deep wound on her neck. Later, the condition worsened and led to sepsis – an extreme reaction of the body to an infection that manifested in the refusal of some organs.

Doctors were treated with antibiotics, but the baby’s skin was damaged, so she needed additional attention. Experts have determined that from the neck of the baby it was necessary to remove the accumulated dead tissue from the skin. In addition, it was necessary to find a way to help the wound healing.

But traditional approaches, such as surgery or human skin transplantation, were either too risky or impossible for the premature elliana.

« She was born premature, the wound was very large and the girl was very sick, so I did not think that the surgical procedure was safe », – explained doctor Vanessa Dimas.

Instead, medical experts cleaned the morning with a solution of medical honey, which was applied to the skin of the fish. This medical product is made of wild North Atlantic cod.

Fish fabrics have become the basis for the growth of new girl’s skin. In addition, some omega-oli and other natural elements helped in the healing process.

Doctors say that the highest risk in this case was the likelihood of fish allergy, but Eliana suffered a good treatment.

Experts say that in three days they managed to achieve « impressive results ». For some time the infant continue to change the bandage. In the end, after 10 days of applying a mixture of fish skin and medical honey, the wound had minimal signs of scarring.

Fish skin is used to treat wounds of people around the world, but it has still been rarely used for children.

The girl’s mother says that the case of her daughter will help scientists learn more about treating fish skin.
