81-year-old Mary Cooper returned to the New Jersey State Library of New Jersey, which was taken by his grandfather almost a century ago.
The woman came across an artifact while moving when she transported her mother's things, told in CNN.
”I looked at the books and found one about (mastering) toys for boys and girls.
I thought, « This is a wonderful book. Maybe she will like my son who likes to work with her hands »– the woman shared the memories.
At that time, 81-year-old Mary Cooper launched a book and saw that the book on the mastering of toys had to be returned 99 years ago. It turned out that in March 1926 (a year before her death), the book collected by his grandfather of the American.
The book published in 1911 contains instructions for the manufacture of simple toys made of wood, metals and household items. This was suitable for the interests of Grandpa Mary Cooper, who was a boatman and a carpenter.
« He had a little daughter, my mom. I thought he wanted to make a few toys for her »– the woman said.
The American confessed that she had no memories of her grandfather who died before her birth. However, her mother told about toy wooden sailboats, which she received as a gift from her father. Later, the boats were handed over to the local historical society.
« I thought it belongs to the library »– added Mary Cooper.
So the woman visited one of the local book collections, where almost a hundred years ago he took the book by her grandfather. As the library staff joked, if the institution had still been fined for late book returns, Mary Cooper would have to pay $ 18,000.
« It happened amazing-this book was returned in the year of our 100th anniversary »– said the representative of the Library Sherry Talersio.
The next few hours, the 81-year-old American, together with book collections, spent more than a hundred years of book.
On her pages, they found a picture of a toy boat, which once received Mary Cooper as a gift. The woman suggested that it was because of this that her mother kept a book in herself.
Currently, the book has been browsed for library visitors.
« After so many years she finally at home »– added Talersio Book Collection Worker.
