In the Student Tournament – Kaunas Police and Basketball Synergy
An important goal
From a team of schoolchildren from various Kaunas schools, he tried his hand at 3×3 basketball competitions at Basketball House.
« For the second time we have organized this student basketball tournament with the LKF for the second time. Interesting is really growing. This year, several girls’ teams have been involved in the tournament. For a while, a number of officers can be met in the police, so there is certainly public fear that something girls can’t do.
The purpose of this tournament is not only to compete on the site, but also to present the police work. We brought various techniques, cynologists organized a show, community officers and representatives of the Lithuanian Police School prepared to answer all the questions of concern to students, ”said Remigijus Stukas, Chief of the Public Order Board of the Kaunas LSC.

The tournament competed in grades 10-12, who are already on the path of professional choice. So they could see the behind -the -scenes work of police work at the event.
« During the tournament, we provide all the information we need in one place, officials can tell themselves about various emerging working situations. Officials not only catch criminals on the streets, but also learn and train.
The organizers of the event claimed that the 3×3 format allows for more student teams, and that this sport is rapidly gaining popularity. « 3×3 basketball is often called street basketball, and officials are also found in public spaces in the city, so ideologically, this format is very close to the police, » assured the tournament organizers.
The winners of the student tournament met with a team of police officers. As the organizers of the event joked, this is an exceptional opportunity not only to compete with the officers, but also to try to defeat the police. The winners were also waiting for a special tournament cup, medals, a tour of the Basketball House and other valuable prizes.
The goal of the tournament is not only to compete on the site, but also to present the police work.
Valuable partnership
LKF President Mindaugas Balčiūnas asserted that the organization’s goal is to grow basketball players and to popularize sports. However, the athlete’s career does not last forever, so the interlocutor is convinced that basketball players could become great officials after finishing their careers.
« We strive to raise not only basketball players, but also patriotic, civic people who love Lithuania. Therefore, partnership with Kaunas LSC is very valuable to us, it has more social aspects. to exploit and cooperate with Kaunas LSC.
In addition, this friendship can solve the problems of social integration of our basketball players who have completed their careers, as not everyone can graduate and choose another profession during the active career of an athlete. However, every basketball player can be a promising officer because he has already been prepared psychologically and physically, has a life experience that could really apply in police work, ”says M. Balčiūnas.

Ambitious aspiration
Although the 3×3 basketball tournament of Kaunas LSC and LKF students is organized only for the second time, there is a great interest, so the organizers set out an ambitious goal of organizing a tournament for students of the entire Kaunas County.
« The competitions between schools could be held in various towns, and the winners would come to Kaunas and play for the name of the main tournament cup and winners. At the same time, not only the city but also the district students could look at the profession of a police officer, » said R. Stukas.
« Our ambition is to organize the largest tournament in Lithuania, and then the best ones could meet in Kaunas. The tournament could be more than a day, stages can be included all schools.
The tournament is desired to grow even more and play at least 40-50 student teams. « In the past, 5×5 basketball tournaments were held and they were very successful. Now 3×3 could revive the idea of competing for all Kaunas schools. It would have a great sense, » added the LCF president.
