In the protest against real estate tax – anger: Human dwelling is inviolable!

People who come from different cities of Lithuania are waving Lithuanian, municipal flags, time posters with notes, such as « what’s next – air fee? », « For European millions of people selling Lithuanian people », « My home is my fortress ».

Two screens were placed at the Gediminas Monument. Before the official start of the event, they showed excerpts from television shows and real estate reports.

« Instead of collecting taxes from the oligarchs, they are attacking to charge ordinary people, » said Raimondas Šimaitis, the campaign organizer.

« Housing is a place where we must be absolutely inviolable, » he added.

Valius Oak, a parliamentarian, also came to the campaign, and representatives of the Nemunas Dawn also promised to participate.

“We are nobody attacks”

According to Janina, a retired retiree from Lentvaris, there is no need to change taxes in Lithuania at all.

« With fees with us, the clutcher is at all. Nothing is there.

At that time, Stasys, a Klaipėda citizen, told BNS that he was opposed to the real estate tax because « everything will have to pay for everything ».

« And so we pay VAT, for fuel, roads. The roads are bad for us, it is impossible to drive, » said the middle -aged man.

The Government plans to travel half the funds from the intended real estate tax to the Defense Fund and the other half to municipalities.

« No one is attacking us (…). The government is attacking us here, » Stasys resented.

At the time, Vidas, 67, told BNS that he was essentially supporting the proposed changes, but the funds raised from the tax should only be directed to national defense.

« You only have to go for defense. And cleanly, » the retiree said.

At that time, Asta Šalvaitienė, 49, told BNS that although the planned real estate fee for a person should not be high, but « every few years will be overestimated and that amount will increase. »

Signatures are collected

On the outskirts of the cathedral is a tent that collects signatures before the planned real estate fee. Here, the beginning of the rally was a row of people.

One of them is Remigijus Kaminickas, 47, from Šakiai and working in the United Kingdom. He told BNS that in order to introduce a global real estate tax, the government breaks the Constitution.

« Human dwellings are inviolable. It turns out that the authorities’ constitution is not valid, » the man said.

It turns out that the rulers of power are not valid.

According to R. Šimaitis, the signatures of the people are collected so that they can be contacted later by initiating a real estate tax in the Seimas.

« When we get signature sheets, they will all be announced and we will collect 50,000 signatures amendments to the Seimas, and then I will very much want to look at every member of the Seimas, who will vote against this amendment, » the promotional organizer said.

« And I promise every member of the Seimas who will vote for the taxation of the dwelling, his posters will hang on each pole before the following election, » he added.

Not the first such promotion

As BNS wrote, the Ministry of Finance proposes to expand the real estate tax base without taxing to 40 thousand. euros for housing value per person or 80 thousand. for two co -owners. In addition, the first home fee up to 450 thousand. It is proposed to reduce by 50 percent.

If the amendments were accepted, 0.1 percent. Real estate tax rate would be applied to the value of residential, recreation, gardens, garages and other non -commercial assets from 40 thousand. up to 200 thousand. 0.2 percent. rate – up to 400 thousand. 0.5 percent. rate – up to 600 thousand. 1 percent. – For all more expensive assets.

The real estate of the population is now being taxed by progressive 0.5-2 %. but only from 150 thousand. and for three or more children from 200 thousand. euros.

R. Šimaitis also organized an analogous rally in the autumn of 2023, when the governors also considered the intention to introduce a global real estate fee.

At that time, according to the police, about one and a half thousand people gathered at the Seimas.

R. Šimaitis is an active participant of various protest shares. He has also received the attention of law enforcement.

For the fact that in 2024 during the march « for equality! » The man burned a pre -trial investigation into the LGBTQI flag -like fabric. However, it was later terminated without liability under the Criminal Code.

In July last year, during the protest at the Seimas, the police had collected material to clarify the circumstances due to the same act, but eventually refused to open a pre -trial investigation.
