In the previous municipal elections, which took place in June 2021, the elections were not in Riga, where the council was elected in an extraordinary election a year earlier, as well as in Rezekne County and Varaklani County, where the elections were suspended after the Constitutional Court judgment, and later – in September 2021. Currently, Varaklani County is included in Madona County and is respectively in the Vidzeme constituency, while it was previously in the Latgale constituency.
