The RMI registered 7.8 millimeters of precipitation in Uccle in March. The few precipitation sees the VMM reflected in its pluviometers spread throughout Flanders. In 60 percent of the measuring locations, for example, there are low to very low levels, in 16 percent of the locations normal gauges and in 24 percent high to very high levels. After a very wet winter, the exceptionally dry month of March ensured a rapid fall in water levels.
The measured precipitation quantities in March vary depending on the location, from a minimum of 1.8 millimeters in Moerbeke to a maximum of 10.4 millimeters of precipitation in Bonheiden. In half of the measuring stations there are still normal flow rates for the time of year, but that is a significant decrease compared to the 77 percent in February.
Since the summer of 2024, it also fell much less precipitation in the north of the provinces of West and East Flanders and part of the province of Antwerp. In addition, February this year was dry and March very dry throughout Flanders. In the Dyle and Demer basin, the situation is better for the time being than in the rest of Flanders.
