Spisska Nova Ves, Skalica. Dozens of tons of tobacco and illegal cigarettes have been detected by criminalists of the financial administration. They intervened in the districts of Skalica and Spišská Nová Ves.

They also detained two suspects – citizens Ukraine with permanent residence in Slovakia.

Financial Administration spokesman Daniel Súkup says that members of the Financial Administration have succeeded in revealing the largest illegal cigarette production.

They found millions of cigarettes

« The unveiling of illegal production in the districts of Skalica and Spišská Nová Ves includes more than 19 million pieces of cigarettes, more than 48 tonnes of tobacco raw material and almost 17,000 kilograms of cut tobacco, » says the set.

The damage to excise duty and value added tax in this case is more than EUR 15 million.

According to the Financial Administration, it was a long -term prepared event, which was launched after a few months of preparation and operational activities of armed members.

The Criminal Office of the Financial Administration during the intervention in controlled buildings in Markušovce and Skalica secured tobacco, produced cigarettes, material supplies, as well as a high -performance machine for the production of cigarettes.

In addition to the financial side, when the state budget has been protected, such a finding also has a positive effect in the field of public health, as illegal tobacco can have a negative impact on user health.

The investigator placed the detained persons in the police detention cell.

“They were charged with a crime of violating the regulations on state technical measures to indicate goods committed in the form of complicity. At the same time, a proposal for them was made to custody. ”

The detained tobacco and the products will be disposed of.

Vice -mayor: they have done business with wood and pellets

Deputy Mayor of Markušovce Miroslav Gurčík (We are a Family) was surprised when we asked him about the large -scale cigarette production.

He says they didn't know anything and surprised them in the village when the police lost. “We had no idea of ​​anything. Of course, we know that the intervention took place and where. « 

He adds that a private company bought a hall in the village in which she was doing business. According to him, it never looked like something illegal could happen in the building.

“They did business with wood and pellets. Yes, trucks often used to go there, but, as far as we know, carried and unloaded the wood. No one had no idea that there was something hidden there. Now I learn that it was a large production room. That there were cigarette lines, tons of tobacco. It is absolutely new information for us. We have activation workers, but neither they have never even indicated that someone would offer them cigarettes or noticed something, ”says Gurčík.

He adds that it is not a good ad for the village. « I have no idea where to end cigarettes, but apparently they were not for the local market, » he concluded.
