In the beach, in berry and up on the mountains
Life changed one September 2007 with entrepreneur Jón Gunnar Benjamin’s son. In a car accident to the east, he was paralyzed below the waist and has had to use a wheelchair ever since, but does not stop from enjoying life.
Jón Gunnar, who is an energetic hunter and catches both fish and bird, often uses his ATV in nature. But now his fleet has been even better off -out vehicles; So-called Exoquad bikes. Jón Gunnar says the bike is light and agile and is well suited for trips to the beach, in berries, up to the mountains, through forests and in the grassland. It is also possible to hurry it down to town and participate in all kinds of gatherings that are more difficult to attend in a wheelchair. Jón Gunnar met the bike recently and was so fascinated that he started importing so that others could also enjoy.
Can be one of the group
« This is a Norwegian invention, but the person who designed it on a wheelchair woman. He found it impossible that she couldn’t be in all kinds of outdoor trips, » says Jón Gunnar, who spread to Norway to look at the artefact he caught his eyes today on social media.
« I did not wait for the invitations and ordered a flight to Oslo and met this engineer, » he says, but Jón Gunnar now has a mandate for Exoquad bikes in Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands.
« I tried these devices out in the woods and it surprised me what the bike could, but he told me to drive over the tree and down and down steep slopes, which I went easy with. This wheel worked unstoppable, » he says.
« It was absolutely amazing to just be out » walking « with him and chatting on the move, but the bike has a different value than ATV. The wheel is not accompanied by noise and no pollution and you can be one of the group, ”he says, but the wheel goes on electricity and gets fifty miles on the charge. The wheel reaches sixteen kilometers, but in a quad bike setting six miles.
« This is not a spit gadget. It would also suit older people or people who are struggling with CP, MS or endlessness by Covid for example. For me, this is an electric wheelchair. »
Jón Gunnar went on a town trip on Christmas on the bike with his wife Alaicju and his daughter Kamilla Björg. He attracted hope to Santa’s costume!

« I have no danger of using the ATV but I think I will use this wheel much more. It is lower and you are much more connected to nature; you reach a better grounding, » says Jón Gunnar, who intends to use the bike on fishing trips, hunting, for beach trips and berries.
« I’m going to go to places that I haven’t come to since I was paralyzed, like old fishing spots. This opens many doors that have been closed for a long time, » says Jón Gunnar. He claims to be in a little fight with health insurance, but he wants the device to be subsidized as a leisure or sports device. It is not yet possible, although the VAT can be refunded, but the device costs between 2.9 to 3.8 million, depending on how much accessories are included. Have you gotten into getting somewhere stuck?
« No, but I definitely have to get into trouble somewhere if I know myself correctly. I might be afraid of Myrar and can avoid them. The seat height is the same as in a wheelchair and Jón Gunnar says it is a small matter to sit on the bike. He has already sold eight wheels and the interest is great.
« This completely changes the game for us who need a wheelchair. This is completely new and no other device has the same features as Exoquad. It is so fun to go well with people because it smiles the ring. It looks forward to enjoying nature with family and friends.
