Spain detained a spouse belonging to a global criminal organization involved in the illegal sale of exotic animals. Through the Internet, they sold white tigers, panther, hyenas and cougar – among them were brought from Ukraine.

In the municipality, Manor, law enforcement officers exposed two people, during a search of which found 19 rare animals of the cat’s family, including servants and karakals.
According to police officers, most animals exhibited for sale came from the territory of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. Representatives of exotic species were also brought to the European Union across the border of Poland with Belarus, and from there they were transported according to counterfeit documents.
During the investigation, they found that the couple not only sold animals, but also bred them, such as crossing with domestic cats. However, they did not have any permits.
In social networks, the detainees were advertised about the possibility of buying a white tiger, smoky panther, Eurasian lynx, hyena, black leopard and cougar.
The cost, for example, the smoky panther was 60 thousand euros. Prices for pure karakala and services could exceed eight thousand euros, and hybrids crossed with cats – about 18 thousand.
Police say that these types of cats need a lot of space for keeping, as well as very aggressive, so they can be a threat to people.
Spanish law enforcement officers emphasize that these exotic animals are protected in accordance with the International Trade in the Effective Fauna and Flora. Before this international document Ukraine joined In 1999.
The detainees are charged with crimes against wildlife, smuggling, forgery and organized crime. Police believe that the participants of the global criminal organization were also workers of the transport sector and veterinarians.
