It is planned that on April 15, the building of the former public bath in Narva at 27 Paul Keres will be put up for auction. Those who wish to participate in it should make a deposit until April 14. The auction will continue until April 23, writes Rus.delfi. This bath was loved by many citizens and, after removing the restrictions on the Pandemia of Coronovirus, hoped that it would work again. But the bathhouse opened for three days in 2021 – and on this stopped activity. Now this is one of the abandonment of the border city.

The bath complex has three floors. It was built in 1984. Building area 1878 square meters. meters, next to it is a territory with an area of 7779 square meters. meters. When it was built, about 85 thousand inhabitants lived in the city. It was planned that there would be even more. But the city did not develop according to plan, the number of citizens became less, and as a result, the city hall considered the cost of maintaining the bathhouse unreasonable.

The public bath went into private hands in 2001. As a result of an open contest-entry, it was bought by the Narva entrepreneur Nikolai Naumov.

The new private owner had to invest several million kroons in the object, maintain the bathroom activities for 15 years, hold the staff of employees and not increase the cost of tickets. In the new market conditions, this was impossible, although the new owner – Nikolai Naumov – tried to improve the premises of the bath. He also turned to the city for support. Burprava Narva back in 2016 decided that it would be impossible to revive a public bath. The city offered for free use a plot of land by entrepreneurs who are ready to build a similar bath. This upset the owner of the premises, who sought to develop his project. The bath worked with significant breaks to the pandemic, and then closed completely.

Now the building looks like a typical abandonment – part of the windows is broken, there is a lot of garbage around.

The starting price of the auction is 180,000 euros, the website of the auctions reports by bailiffs and bankruptcy managers of Estonia. The auction will be dealt with by the bailiff Andrei Krek.

In 2016, Rusdelfi wrote that they wanted to build a new city bathhouse in Narve, which could replace the old one with Keres, 27. Read here: they want to build a new city bathhouse in Narve

Construction plans have been actively discussed, but the new public bath has not yet appeared. Now this idea seems outdated, given the number of new SPA-complexes in Narva and Narva-Yesuu.
