In Memoriam: Tose Pop Simonov marked the Macedonian music scene with his work
The Macedonian music scene was left without a great author, today Tose Pop Simonov, 63, musician, composer, producer, songwriter.
The Macedonian Ethstrades would not be what it is today without the engagement and hits of Pop Simonov.
Simonov at the beginning of his fruitful music career was a member of the cult band « Bastion » and later built a great composer who created some of the great Macedonian music stars, such as: Ena Veco, « Cold Legs », Verica Pandilovska…
He also had his fingers in some of the biggest hits, such as « Easter » by Gina Papas Foxi, « Crying Time » by Igor Dzambazov, « La La » by Jakov Drenkovski, « Kuccin Son » by Verica Pandilovska, « My Dog » on « Cold Feet ».
He was also artistic director of Makfest, where he returned after a long time as the author in 2019, when his song « Don’t Recognize Her » was sung by the girls from the Frail Sad band and won third place. He also collaborated with many other singers from the region, including Alka Vuica.
His studio also recorded: Tose Proeski, Benny and Non Stop, « Risto Bomb and Dog Tenew », Vlado Janevski, « Memory », « Archangel », « Anastasia », Dario …
Tose Pop Simonov’s songs will be heard for a long time, from the current and future generations, because with their quality they have left an indelible mark on the Macedonian music scene.
The funeral will take place on Tuesday, April 22, at the Butel City Cemetery in Skopje.
