Lviv doctors operated on a 49-year-old man with acute abdominal pain and found pathology intestinewhich is usually in babies.
The operation was performed at St. Luke Hospital, report on the site of the first medical association of Lviv.
The carpenter Sergei felt abdominal pain at the end of February. The painkillers did not help, so his husbands took him to doctors.
Doctors suspected Invogination of the intestine – The most common form of acute intestinal obstruction in pediatric practice, in which one intestinal loop enters another. Usually this condition occurs in children, and in adults – very rarely.
It turned out that the small intestine in Sergiy’s body entered the blind, which led to the clamping of the mesentery and blocking of blood supply. In this disease, the organ dies within 5-12 hours.
« It is difficult to diagnose invagination because it manifests itself when there is already necrosis of the intestine or peritonitis. And so it is not always possible to catch the period of invagination when the gut is still viable. In this case we were lucky that we have taken the patient on time and the intestine is not yet dead »– says the head of the surgical department Marian Kuzmak.
The operation confirmed a rare diagnosis and the doctors managed to eliminate the problem.
Also on the small intestine found lipoma – a rare fatty tumor. It along with the affected part of the intestine was removed and then healthy parts of the organ connected.
Doctors managed to avoid necrosis and maintain the full function of the patient’s organs. Now the man is recovering and preparing to return to the usual life.
