In Lithuania used tattoo paint – poison: How to ensure safety?
Kaunas Amber came to the long -term makeup salon in Kaunas – she had a lip correction procedure.
« I really like a brighter lip contour, so I think I will save time with permanent makeup and get a better result, » said client Gintare Armale.
The girl says she chooses such procedures responsibly – based on recommendations and does not attack the first specialist.
« It is important that it is clean and sterile – after all, it is an invasion of the body. I do not want to risk health, so I want to be sure that quality measures are used, » Armale explained.

However, it is with the quality of the paint that the biggest problem arises. Scientists have studied the composition of tattooed paints in 14 countries of the European Union. Lithuania’s results shocking – more than 70 percent. The products did not meet the requirements for labeling or chemical composition.
« In Lithuania, two suppliers of green and black paints were investigated. The most sad thing is that formaldehyde levels exceeded the rate of 900 to more than 1.3 thousand times in some paint, » said Violeta Kaunelienė, a professor at the Department of Environmental Technology at KTU.
Specialists also name other dangerous impurities.
« This substance is a carcinogen. Also found in other potential cancer -causing agents such as naphthalene and heavy metals, copper concentrations exceeded the marginal values, » the professor added.
Beauty specialists do not hide – they often face poor quality paint and non -professional masters when they have to correct their mistakes.

« We often hear about allergic reactions, prolonged pigment, itching – the signals that the paint used was unsafe, » said Gitana Vizgaitienė, head of the Micropigmentation Center.
« Mostly customers apply for a request, ‘Save!’ If this is an allergic reaction or skin lesions, it is already necessary to consult a doctor, ”said Santaka Tattoo CEO Indre Kolakovska.
Although the paint in beauty salons should meet the requirements, there are still cases where tattoos are done illegally, such as basements or even kitchens.
« Unfortunately, tattoos still do at home – in the kitchen on a table or basement. And there are many such cases, » Kolakovska said.

Public health professionals check beauty and tattoo salons and detect violations every fifth of them.
« More than 120 craftsmen were checked in 2024. Some of them carried out illegally. The composition of some of the proven paint was not a threat, but in some cases it was found that expired products were used, » said Ingrida Skirdailienė, Head of Public Health Safety Control.
Scientists do not hide – what is now found in paint can irreparably harm human health.
« The effect of harmful substances through the skin is significant – they can cause DNA changes, damage the reproductive system, and cause allergic reactions at the site of the tattoo, » warns V. Kaunelienė.

Beauty experts advise you on how to avoid poor quality services.
« Before choosing a craftsman, it is worth asking him to show the gallery of hesitant work, » advises G. Vizgaitienė.
« People often make the mistake of choosing a salon rather than a master. But it must be understood that the salon does not guarantee quality – craftsmen often rent a place and can work in different conditions. It is best to monitor the work of a selected specialist longer, » advised I. Kolakovska.
Three years ago, the use of harmful substances in tattoos and long -term makeup was strictly restricted throughout the European Union. If the composition of the paint is in doubt, their safety can be checked online.
