The document states that Ukraine is a sovereign and independent European state that has the right to defend itself and independently resolve the issues of its internal, foreign and security policy, and its borders are those that the international community recognized in 1991.
« Today, it is very important not only to stop this unjustified war, to ensure long -term peace, but also to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine, » – said the project of the resolution, the chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Remiiius Motuzas.
In its resolution, the Seimas calls on parliaments of other countries of the world to approve similar documents that would emphasize the unconditional support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and take measures to prevent the recognition of annexation of Ukrainian territories by Russia.
It is known that in recent weeks the Trump administration has tried to force the « peace process » between Ukraine and Russia and, according to the media, prepared a « final proposal » for peaceful settlement.
Among other things, the United States ready to recognize the control of over Ukrainian Crimea and weaken sanctions against Moscow.
Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga, recently outlining red lines in the framework of peace talks, said Ukraine will not go to the recognition of any temporarily occupied territories in Russian.
