In Latvia this year 63 forest fires have been extinguished in 18.1 hectares / day

Despite the fact that the forest fire -proof period has not yet been announced this year, the SFD reminds you of careful fire.

He also recalls that the last grass or bundle should not be burned, adding that burning a bundle is a punishment throughout the year, but it is particularly dangerous during spring and can cause a forest fire near the forest.

The VMD carries out fire safety monitoring in the forest and forest lands, as well as forest fire fighting. Each year, depending on the climatic conditions, the forest -fired period of forest is announced, in which residents have prohibitions and restrictions. For example, it is forbidden to drop burning or smelly matches, smoking and other objects in the forest, as well as driving motor vehicles through the forest and the swamp outside the roads.

In 2024 in Latvia, the forest firefighter period was valid from May 3 to October 14.

The VMD is the Latvian public authority, which is subordinate to the Minister of Agriculture. The Service monitors forest management and use, compliance with the requirements of hunting regulations, as well as implement the protection of forest fire and accumulates information on the forest and forestry activities, hunting and hunting animals.
