The portal Kauno. Diena.lt recalls that about five years ago, Kaunas City Municipality took over the building of the former hospital from Turto bankas. The City Council was unanimously supported by such a decision.
It was announced that a Tuberculosis Hospital-Sanatorium built in 1962 was renovated externally more than a decade ago. Now the work is going on more inside.
Municipal specialists are convinced that buildings in Kulautuva pine forest are the ideal place where seniors will be able to live calm and dignified and obtain specialized care services from doctors, nurses, social professionals and trained volunteers. Healthcare, self -realization and socialization needs will be provided by staff.
During the coronavirus pandemic, the building was planned to be temporarily used for the treatment or insulation of patients infected with this virus. After the pandemic, the building is converted to the seniors’ home.
It is planned that all work will be completed by the end of the year.
The project is implemented by Kaunas City Municipality.
