In Kropyvnytskyi, a 16-year-old schoolgirl from the village of Subotka, Kropyvnytskyi district, was sentenced to life.

The case in the courts lasted more than five years – all this time the man denied his guilt, reports « Public ».

According to the prosecutor, 26 volumes of evidence were examined in court, including traces of blood and a schoolgirl in the accused car, testimony of witnesses and conclusions of expertise. However, the man insisted that the evidence was falsified.

The case was considered with the participation of three jurors. The court found the man guilty of murder combined with rape, attempted sexual actions and secret abduction of another’s property (paragraph 10 of Part 2 of Article 115, Part 5 of Article 152, Part 1 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

He was assigned a lifelong imprisonment. He also has to pay 4 million hryvnias of compensation for moral damage to his mother of the dead girl and more than UAH 1 million for litigation.

The convicted said that he intends to challenge the court’s decision and is ready to reach the European Court of Human Rights.

What is known about the case

On August 24, 2018, 16-year-old Diana Hrinenko disappeared in the village of Subotka Kropyvnytskyi district. The girl went to celebrate Independence Day and did not return home. It lasted half a year.

According to « Public », in March 2019, a tractor driver who worked on the field 12 kilometers from the Sabbaths, the finds of the remains of human body and fragments of clothing. Three examinations confirmed that the remains belong to the disappeared schoolgirl.

The suspect in the murder of the girl was detained on August 13, 2019 in Poland. He was a resident of the neighboring village of Novotrepivka, at the time of detention he was 28 years old.
