Alla Gorskaya, the original Boryvitra « , together with the team in 1967 – three years before the murder. In 1965, she and her husband Vitaly Zarevsky went to Mariupol to get acquainted with the monumental.
« In Mariupol at that time there was a great movement of monumental art. And our Kiev stars arrived. They received orders for two mosaics » Boryviter « and » Tree of Life « . It was already the result of Alla Gorska’s long -term experience. Working with folk art with academic education was combined in a very powerful. Alla Gorsk « – says her grandson Elena Zarevskaya.
Panel fabric is dumped Yaroslav Gres and Irina Chechotkin – The initiators of the Ukrainian Wow project, who brought together artists, researchers and patrons to create mosaics.
Before us, a work of 18 square meters is revealed – as in the original. Boryviter made slices of smalt, ceramics, aluminum and spoons. In this blush the moment begins, which makes everyone hide.
Our conversation with Elena Zaretska was interrupted several times. First downpour, then participation in group photos.

Elena – the keeper of the memory of Gorsk, shares how incredible feeling it is when they open a reproduced mosaic. Before that, she was not in Mariupol and did not see this panel with her own eyes. She was not familiar with her grandmother Elena, because she was born 14 years after her death.
Less than three months worked on mosaics. Elena also made one of the mosaic fragments with her own hands. About today says how very important it is.
« It is difficult to convey in words! I read a memories where Alla Gorskaya was very plunged into work. And every pebble looked at what angle to lay out. If you consider this mosaic, then at different angles of stones it seems to be flickering. When it was mounted, it was a nest, we were looking at the floor. that the artists of the time fell in love with their land and recreated it in work « – Elena shares.

The artist says that the gravity of traditions sees in the artists who have now worked on work. As they were involved in the process, how each pebble was selected.
« It is hard to realize that these stones were held in her hands. As she looked at them, what at that moment she thought she was leaning them against the wall and then making a step back and looked at« , – adds the Grandch of Gorskaya.
Elena perceives her grandmother as a thinker out of time, the reflections and ideas of which are relevant now. According to her, Alla Gorsk can act as a large role model for Ukraine.
When playing the panel, the biggest challenge was to create a mobile design. In order to go on the tour of Ukraine and the world. Kharkiv and Lviv will be the first cities for exposure.

« But Alla Gorskaya collected two mosaics » Boryviter « and » Tree of Life « in less than two months. When we were told that we could not, we answered:– says Elena.
To reproduce Boryviter, the team held many art meetings, on its own, a smalt, which was specially made in Ukraine under the order, although Elena emphasizes that the panel has Soviet Smalt.
Mosaica was laid out in Mariupol in Mariupol, mostly broken tiles and the team of Gorskaya Smalta made novelty. Boryviter was created for the restaurant « Ukraine », so the use of spoons in the mosaic became another experiment. And thanks to the use of sheet aluminum The work gained lightness, subtlety, and Borivitra itself gave a sense of real flight.
Nowadays, it was a huge challenge for artists to create a mobile design.

Artists consulted with art critics, researchers of Mariupol mosaics, mosaists.
« Alla Gorskaya collected two mosaics » Boryviter « and » Tree of Life « in less than two months. When we were told that we would not be able to, we answered that Alla Gorsk was able to, so we will be able to. »
To make the identical mosaic, the team relied on photographs taken by Mariupol photographers before the start of a full -scale invasion.
« We have large mosaic details on the walls so that artists can rest on both size and look at the smalt, see the order, sequence and logic of teaching. Fortunately, we had exclusive photos of small details. Elena explains.
The panels were joined by 15 monumental artists and researchers, including Anastasia Lelyuk, Tatiana Tadai, Inga Levi, Olga Chikalo, Alya Sagal, Tamara Turlyun, Polina Pikuryova, Anastasia Antonets, Tatiana Bakum, Andrey Fisher.
« In the beginning, we just tried to gather all those involved in mosaic art. Now many mosaists of men were involved in the army, and there were many people who could not dare to such an idea. I joined several times and taught fragments myself. It was an incredible atmosphere in the workshop.

Boryviter was chosen between the two majestic mosaics because it has a lot of dynamics and movement, Elena says. This is what Ukrainians now need in martial law.
« I would like to recreate the » Tree of Life « and others that are in the occupied territories, but this project wants to want from the summer of such a big bird. For me, this work is freedom, victory and lightness », – says Elena.
After the murder The « tree of life » was closed with a brick wall. And only opened in 2008.

« This is a great loss for Ukrainian art that has not been visible for a long time. If we talk about the process of Russification, Mariupols told me how they went from school daily to Chekhov’s nearest museum instead of seeing such wealth in their own city. We have not talked about Ukrainian art in an independent Ukraine for years. »– shares Elena.
In the framework of the project of « Boryvitra », two were created. The second copy was divided into 1250 fragments. One of them can be purchased and become the keeper of Boryvitra to restore the legendary creation of Gorska in the liberated Mariupol one day. The entire circulation was sold in the day.
