The new trial began on June 3 in Rzeszów. During the hearing Adam Sz. He gave a short statement. He got up slowly. Wide in bars, confident but calm. – I do not agree with the sentence. It is too harsh. If I could turn back time, I would never do it. I regret, he said.
The court listened but did not look particularly moved. In fact, it’s hardly surprising.
Murder or a dramatic case?
The defender of the accused has long been trying to convince the court, that his client did not act with the intention of killing a bread supplier. – He didn’t predict that this man would die. There was no such intention – he said on Tuesday during the trial, thus trying to relieve the main allegation: murder with particular cruelty.
The prosecutor replied without Ceregles: – Mr. Wojciech did not put himself in such a state. From the beginning he was critical, his life was supported by machines. The accused should predict the effects of his attack.
The prosecutor’s office withdrew only at one point: the application was withdrawn by 30,000. PLN fine. Because, as it was reminded, it cannot be applied to someone who already has life imprisonment.
Attack in front of the store in Jawornik Polski and 47 days of fighting for life
The crime took place in October 2020. Everything was recorded by a shopping camera. The recording lasts only a minute, but it is enough to see the terrifying brutality of the attack. At this time, the perpetrator deals 15 blows with a baseball stick, of which four go straight to the head. After a while, he searches the inert body of Wojciech G., goes to his car for a moment, then returns and hits again, as if he wanted to finish off.
Wojciech G. was not an accidental victim. He was a man who after years of work went to the bakery with the thought that he would see a retirement calmly. Every morning he delivered bread to local stores. After the attack, for 47 days he fought a dramatic fight for life. Many days were connected to the respirator. Hope appeared for a moment. On December 1, 2020, he returned home, but his condition quickly broke down. Pneumonia, a complication, to which for long -lubricated people are particularly vulnerable. Just four days later, on December 5, the man died.

Adam Sz. He was already punished and he was released shortly before the crime. After the attack, he stole his victim’s car and headed towards the border with Germany. On the way in Rzeszów he threw out Wojciech G.’s phone, and in Krakow he got rid of bread. He was detained in Zgorzelec, just before he could leave the country.
In 2023, the Court of Appeal in Rzeszów maintained a life sentence, which had previously passed before the District Court in Przemyśl. However, after submitting the cassation, this decision was repealed and the case was referred for re -examination.
The verdict will be made on June 16
Now the court, this time in the new composition, wonders whether to change the qualification of the act. Maybe there was no murder with particular cruelty? Maybe just a « ordinary » murder? Or maybe just robbery with a dramatic effect?
Judge Artur Lipiński informed the parties about the possibility of changing the legal qualification. However, you have to wait for the decision. The verdict will be announced on June 16. Until then Adam Sz. He is still sitting. And he practices …
