In his twenties died at night collision against truck, four others seriously injured (Herselt)

A car with five occupants came from the Ramselsesteenweg side street and turned the Aarschotsesteenweg towards Herselt. A double trailer that came from Herselt could no longer stop and drove the car in the flank. The vehicle was thrown away and ended up in a hedge next to the road.

The fire brigade had to free the occupants from the car. It concerns five people in their twenties, mainly from Westerlo. For one passenger, who was in the back of the car, no help could no longer benefit, the young man died on the spot. The four others were seriously injured, of whom at least one was taken to the hospital in a very critical condition. The driver of the truck remained unharmed, but was very impressed. The Aarschotsesteenweg remained closed for four hours.

According to the driver of the truck, the car had driven the road from the side street without stopping. According to him, the driver followed another car that had already turned the road, for which the trucker should have already slowed down. That first car would have driven on. The police are investigating the issue. A traffic expert from the public prosecutor came to the scene, just like the Fotogrammetry team of the road police to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
