In a number of cities in Germany the day before, thousands of people came to an action against right extremism and demanding that the « Alternative for Germany » (« ADN »).

The demonstrations were organized by the « together against the right » and other NGOs.

In Berlin, protesters gathered near the Brandenburg Gate. According to police estimates, by the end of the day the number of participants was about 4000 people, but the organizers counted about 7,500 participants.

About 2,500 protesters took to Munich Street, and in total, more than 60 cities were announced in the country.

The organizers called on political leaders to start a formal procedure for the prohibition of far -right ADN.

In their statement, they claim that the issue of the party’s ban should be considered not as a political decision, but as a legal issue.

« In order to clarify this issue, politicians must find courage and file a prohibition, » the statement reads.

The organizers call on the Bundestag and the Bundesrat legislative bodies, as well as the new Federal Government, led by Chancellor Friedrich Merz, initiate the prohibition of « ADN » in the Federal Constitutional Court.

Calls to the Party’s ban have intensified after this month the Federal Office of the Constitution (BFV) began to classify « Adn » as « Confirmed Right -extremist« Organization, raising its status from the » suspect. « 

The new classification made it possible to expand the authority of supervision.

However, later BFV suspended the classificationWhile Adn continues the lawsuit. Prior to the decision of the administrative court, Cologne, the department will continue to consider the party as « suspect ».
