In Estonia, every fifth health worker works in several positions
Over the past ten years, the share of doctors and nurses working full -time has decreased, while the share of health workers working with a smaller load has increased, writes Err. An increase in the share of workers with a smaller workload is primarily due to work in several positions, follows from the data published by the Institute for Health Development (TAI).
“An increase in the share of health care workers with a lower contractual load is primarily due to work in several positions, in different institutions and in different positions, which is caused by the lack of labor in the healthcare sector,” explained Tiiu-Liisa Rummo senior analyst.
18% of Estonian health workers work in several positions either in one institution or in different institutions.
“Work in several institutions also allows health workers to more flexibly plan their working hours and get more diverse work experience,” Rummo said.
