His son Daniel Noboa only needed an essay: he triumphed in October 2023 after his surprise qualification in the first round.

The circumstances were special: his mandate was limited to fifteen months, the time to finish that of his predecessor Guillermo Lasso. The latter, cornered by an investigation for corruption and threatened with dismissal by the deputies, had dissolved the assembly in May 2023, which led to an early presidential election.
