In Croatia over 18,000 less unemployed than at the same time last year
At the end of March this year, 90,729 unemployed were registered in the records of the Croatian Employment Service (CES), which is 16.8 percent or 18,363 less than in March last year, according to the CES data published on Thursday.
Compared to February, the number of unemployed decreased by 5.8 percent or 5,584 people.
According to the CES daily data, 86,751 unemployed are currently registered at the Institute, and 21,260 vacancies have been advertised.
During March this year, 10,234 people were recorded in the records of the unemployed, which is two percent more than in March 2024. 7,321 people or 71.6 percent came from employment. There were also 249 people from regular education and 2,664 from inactivity.
According to the CES data, 15,818 people came out of the unemployment records, which is nine percent less than in March last year. Of these, 11,480 people are employed, 10,573 or 92.1 percent on the basis of working relationships and 907 people or 7.9 percent based on other business activities.
The most employed in catering, processing industry and trade
Recorded employment on the basis of working relationships is most often realized in accommodation and preparation and serving of food – 2,456 people or 23.2 percent. This is followed by a processing industry with 1,449 persons or 13.7 percent and trade in large and small with 1,294 persons or 12.2 percent.
In March, 4,338 people were deleted from the unemployment records for other reasons, such as going out of workforce (retirement, involvement in regular education), non -compliance with legal provisions (do not seek active work, inadvertent to work), sign -off from records, etc.
In terms of counties, the employment was led by the Split-Dalmatia County (1,857 persons or 17.6 percent of the total number of employed employment), Osijek-Baranja County (1,051 or 9.9 percent) and the City of Zagreb (962 people or 9.1 percent).
The largest absolute number of registered unemployed persons was recorded in the Split-Dalmatia County 15,712 (or 17.3 percent of the total number in Croatia), the Osijek-Baranja County (11,914 or 13.1 percent) and the City of Zagreb (10,296 or 11.3 percent), and the smallest in Lika-Senj County (1,156 or 1.3 percent).
In March this year, 23,729 persons or 26.2 percent of the total number of unemployed used a fee. The number of beneficiaries of the cash fee increased compared to the same month of 2024 by 9.8 percent or 2,126 people.
In March, 13,018 jobs were advertised through the Service of the Institute, through which 22,931 workers were expressed. The number of workers requested decreased by 5.1 percent compared to the same month last year.
