In Croatia, 20 thousand less unemployed than 2024
At the end of February this year, 96,313 unemployed persons were registered in the records of the Croatian Employment Service (CES), which is 17.3 percent or 20,121 people less than in February 2024, the CES data published on Monday show.
Compared to January, the number of unemployed is reduced by 1.1 percent or 1,028 people.
According to the CES daily data, 94,228 unemployed are currently registered at the Institute, and 24,217 vacancies have been advertised.
During February this year, 10,839 people were new to the unemployed records, which is 2.7 percent less than in February last year. 8,148 persons or 75.2 percent came from employment. 220 people from regular education and 2,471 from inactivity have entered the records of the unemployed in the last month.
According to the CES data, 11,867 people came out of the register of unemployed, which is 17.7 percent less than in February 2024. Of these, 8,185 people are employed, 7,635 persons or 93.3 percent based on working relationships and 550 people or 6.7 percent based on other business activities.
The most employed in the processing industry, trade and catering
Recorded employment on the basis of working relationships is most often realized in the processing industry – 1,194 persons or 15.6 percent. This is followed by a large and a few with 1,171 persons or 15.3 percent and accommodation and preparing and serving food with 1,043 people or 13.7 percent.
In February, 3,682 people were deleted from the unemployment records for other reasons, such as going out of workforce (retirement, involvement in regular education), non -compliance with legal provisions (do not seek active work, inadvertent to work), sign -on from records, etc.
In terms of counties, the employment was led by the Split-Dalmatia County (1,337 persons or 17.5 percent of the total number of employees by working relations), the City of Zagreb (837 persons or 11 percent) and Osijek-Baranja County (785 people or 10.3 percent).
The largest absolute number of registered unemployed persons was recorded in the Split-Dalmatia County 16,762 (or 17.4 percent of the total number in Croatia), Osijek-Baranja County (12,262 or 12.7 percent) and the City of Zagreb (10,657 or 11.1 percent), and the smallest in Lika-Senj County (1,250 or 1.3 percent).
In February, 25,377 people or 26.3 percent of the total number of unemployed were using financial fee. The number of beneficiaries of the cash fee increased compared to the same month of 2024 by 3.2 percent or 796 people.
In February, 11,732 jobs were advertised through the Service of the Institute, through which 20,228 workers were expressed. The number of workers requested decreased by 17.4 percent compared to the same month last year.
