In China, an oil field with over 100 million tonnes of reserves revealed
Chinese oil company CNOOC has reported that a large oil field with proven reserves of over 100 million tonnes has been discovered in the eastern China Sea – Beta reports.
The field identified as Huzhou 19-6 is about 170 kilometers from the city of Shenzhen, the Xinhua news agency reported.
Trial drilling has achieved daily production of 413 barrels of crude oil and 68,000 cubic meters of natural gas – CNOOC said.
CEO of state -run oil giant Joe Xinhuai welcomed the discovery in the eastern part of the South China Sea, adding that CNOOC had discovered a « 100 million tonnes of oil ».
The South China Sea is insufficiently investigated due to territorial disputes, but most of the well -known oil and gas deposits are in Chinese areas, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Beijing believes he claims to have sovereignty over almost the entire sea, while the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Brunei believe they also have the right.
Despite the discovery of the oil field, according to the US government’s analysis, China remains the largest crude oil importer in the world, producing about 11.1 million barrels a day last year.
