Implemented the law, the Electoral Code does not allow. Here’s what was done
DP leader Sali Berisha held a press conference, where he spoke among other things what happened yesterday in the KAS, where the request of Democratic candidates to recount votes in Tirana district was rejected by both SP and DP members.
Berisha stated that the DP members in the KAS have simply implemented the law, as the Electoral Code provides that only political entities have the right to such complaints. Not candidates.
Sali Berisha: In 2019 a change of the Electoral Code supported by the Venice and Odhir Commission has abolished the right of candidates to submit requests of this nature.
Venice, ODIHR and our Code recognize this right to political entities that invested for the candidate as well.
Our candidates have followed a advised path I cannot say after our UNA representatives have made clear and interpret my calls to make through the Party. But within the platform approved by the DP. So if the party has sought the election illegality, then the party receives and submits the candidates’ demands one by one.
Some candidates who have requested their complaint have filed with the CEC.
Tirana candidates were again informed yesterday that the road they followed is illegal. Our representatives in the KAS have enforced the law could not vote for one thing that has been removed by law. All 4 candidates have the right to file a complaint with our representatives in the CQA who subsequently submit to the CEC. It was a misunderstanding on their part.
