The press: were you surprised by the rapid choice of the new Pope?
Johannes Freitag: Shortly before the evening mass in the Graz Cathedral, I was surprised at the quick choice, for me a special sign of a rapid majority, more of the unit. I’m happy about Pope Leo XIV. I am sure that he continues the line of his predecessor, but with his character, his nature and his story and life story. I am excited to meet him at the introduction days for the new bishops in Rome at the beginning of September. There will be no more time before Francis. Pope Francis has set accents with his scale of love. To position the church on the side of the poor, as a church that expresses that God loves all people.
