The candidate of the ‘Romania before’ alliance, Crin Antonescu, announces that he submitted, on Wednesday, the request to the National Council for the Study of Security Archives (CNSAS) to receive all the documents in his file related to the former Security.

‘Following yesterday’s attack, I submitted today (Wednesday) the request to CNSAS to receive all the documents in my file related to the former Security. My request was registered with CNSAS with no. P1033/25/16.04.2025 ‘, Antonescu wrote on Wednesday on Facebook.

He states that he will make public documents, as is natural.

‘I thought the times of lizards and delactions passed. It seems not. But as the former Security did not scare me, I am not afraid of the new securityists, « Antonescu wrote.

Crin Antonescu, the candidate of the PSD-PNL-UDMR Coalition in the presidential elections, gave a security statement in 1988, but cannot be withheld as a communist security agent or collaborator, the National Council for the Study of Security Archives (CNSAS) has established.

In the certificate published on the CNSAS website, it is shown that Antonescu appears in an informative file and gave a statement in 1988 about a friend, when he was a teacher at the Niculiă school (Tulcea county).

Crin Antonescu, said on Tuesday that he had no relationship with the former Security as a pursuit and asked for his statement from the National Council for the Study of Security Archives (CNSAS) to be made public.

‘I was never, in any form, a security collaborator, let alone I did not do political police. I had no relationship with security except as follows, « Antonescu said in a press conference.

He explained that he gave a statement to the former Security, as a pursuit, in the case of a friend, teacher, who left abroad in the 1980s.

‘In 1987, a very good friend -I was in Tulcea at that time -, an engineer, a teacher, went on a trip to Bulgaria and from there he tried to go to Austria, failing this and, being captured by the law enforcement bodies, later taken to Romania. When he left, he left some personal objects for three friends or four very close, all three, because they left them with names, labels that objects, we were called as follows to the Security to give statements about this. I also presented myself, it was not optional then, in quality, I repeat, to follow. I gave a statement in which I did not provide any special information than that I was a friend of that person, that I knew he was going on a trip to Bulgaria, that I did not know what he has, which was otherwise true, and so much more. Very interesting is that the person, the following year, in 1988, had a new attempt, this time, fortunately, to leave the country. I was the only person I knew about his intention. He had so much confidence in me that he left me, told me what I want to do, that he left my mission to announce his parents, what I did. The man crossed Yugoslavia, stayed in the camp for a while and, afterwards, went to Canada, where he lives today, « said Antonescu.
