Illegal migrant arrest Border guard is forced to resort to a weapon / day
Border guards noticed a group of persons in the Asūne parish of Kraslava district while conducting a surrounding drone.
The border guards gave the order in several languages to stop, but the persons did not respond and ran away. During the escape, the persons showed aggression and disobedience by covering border guards with tree yards and stones.
One of the border guards had to use a service firearm to arrest them and to make a warning shot in the air. After this, two persons stopped, but five more continued to flee and bend the border guards. After the second warning shot, the rest of the persons stopped.
Representatives of the National Armed Forces Response Unit, officials of the Special Operations Service « Sigma » and a cynologist with a service dog were also involved in the provision of border guards.
No complaints about the health condition were not expressed during examination of the persons and no health problems were identified during the examination.
Persons were returned to the border with Belarus.
In total, 88 people were unlawfully tried to cross the Latvian-Belarus border on Thursday.
This year, in total, 1689 people have been discouraged from the illegal crossing of the state border. Eight people were admitted to humane reasons.
