Investigators for many days after the fire conducted a detailed examination of the scene. Monitoring was analyzed, witnesses and people who could have been related to activities in the hall were questioned. It was established that the illegal laboratory functioned in the depths of the object, away from the main entrances, which hindered the rapid detection of its existence.
Gdańsk. Fire in the former Hall of Rolling Stock Repair Plant
On Wednesday, February 5, just after 13, In one of the halls of the former Rolling Stock Repair Plant in the Gdańsk processing, there was a serious fire. Thick, black smoke floating above the scene of the incident was visible from a distance of several kilometers. About fifty fire brigades participated in the firefighting operation.
The fire quickly took over a large part of the hall, posing a direct threat to the lives and health of many people and to a huge scale property. The losses of around PLN 20 million were initially estimated.

After extinguishing the fire, intensive investigation and trade actions began. Officers of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Gdańsk, prosecutors and forensic technicians secured evidence for several days and analyzed the place of tragedy.
During the Thursday press conference, a press spokesman for the Provincial Police Commander in Gdańsk, Commissioner Karina Kamińska, said that, according to expert opinions, in the so -called Zero zone – the place where the fire began – an explosion occurred. The source of the explosion was the illegal drug laboratory.

In the course of the investigation, the police selected three suspicious men. They are Polish citizens aged 27, 38 and 46. They were detained in apartments in Gdańsk and Ostrołęka.
According to spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gdańsk, prosecutor Mariusz Duszyński, « all suspects heard the charges and the court’s decision was arrested on Thursday for three months. »
Both the police and the prosecutor’s office emphasize that the case is of a developmental nature. Further activities of investigators may lead to subsequent arrests.
