Ilie Bolojan, at the summit of the three seas initiative

Interim president Ilie Bolojan goes today to the summit of the three seas initiative organized at the Royal Castle in Warsaw.

Bolojan will have an intervention, in the first part of the day, within the segment dedicated to the heads of state and government, at the business forum of the three seas.

Then, along with several heads of state in the region, he will attend the high level meeting that is organized at the Royal Castle in Warsaw.

The interim president arrived in the capital of Poland last night being invited to the official dinner hosted by Andrzej Duda.

The Poland summit marks ten years since the implementation of this initiative, and the discussions will focus on both regional interconnectivity and energy interconnectivity and current security issues.

The initiative of the three seas is a flexible and informal political platform, at the presidential level, which brings together the 12 EU member states between the Adriatic, Baltic and Black seas (Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia). Greece became two years ago the 13th country that joined the initiative of the three seas.

The initiative aims to increase convergence and cohesion, in parallel with the reduction of economic development gap between different areas and EU member states, by increasing interconnectivity in the region, in the fields of energy, transport and digital. The basic principles of the initiative of the three seas are: promoting economic development, increasing cohesion at European level and strengthening transatlantic links.
