Il. Bernardo Blanco wants to lead the aggregating list to the National Council

Former deputy Bernardo Blanco wants to head an “aggregating list” to the National Council of the Initiative Libera (IL) L, if the party chooses to call elections to all organs. “The goal is to show a party that can renew itself and work together,” says the national counselor in a statement.

This position arises after Rui Rocha presented the resignation of the party leader on Saturday. In a communication to which the sunrise had access to the decision explained: “With the 2025 legislative elections, a new political cycle that begins with a significantly different parliamentary representation begins. A political cycle with huge challenges and for which the liberal initiative does not depart, recognizing my full responsibility in this, with the preponderance of an electoral weight by which we fought and we all wanted.”

And just as our newspaper advanced before this departure there were only two hypotheses: the position could be assumed by IL vice president, Ricardo Pais Oliveira and if he did not accept could take over the other vice-presidents-Mariana Leitão, Angelique da Teresa and Rui Ribeiro-a solution removed by all or opt for internal elections, which was eventually assumed on Sunday. A decision that aims to « give the word to members of the liberal initiative to elect a new president. »

Party Secretary-General Miguel Rangel assumes interim leadership until a new convention and election of the party’s executive committee.

Bernardo Blanco has now argued that the Ilparti must « advance to elections from all organs as soon as possible. » He adds: « The goal must be clear: At the end of July, we have a party invigorated, with new energy, entirely concentrated in the challenge of local elections. » As for the aggregating list you can lead promises “to dialogue with people of all lists who presented themselves to the National Council in the last elections”, with the objective of presenting “a strong, aggregating and positive campaign candidacy”, referring that IL “today has the maturity necessary to build a joint solution, based on broad and representative lists for all organs”.

As for the party it says it is “able to renew and work together” so that it is “ready to win many liberal mandates in October”, alluding to the next local elections.
