It was decided by the Congress of the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) on Friday at the venue MS in hockey 2025 in Stockholm, Sweden.

In Slovakia, the World Championship was held in the era of independence in 2011 and 2019. Bratislava and Košice welcomed the hockey elite, both cities will also be played this time.

The capital of Slovakia also experienced the atmosphere of the World Championship in 1959 and 1992, when the event in Czechoslovakia co -organized together with Prague.

« We believe that our candidacy is not only reflected in the long -term tradition and popularity of hockey in Slovakia, but also the experience we have gained in the organization of successful championships in 2011 and 2019. In 2029 we will celebrate 100 years of organized hockey in Slovakia.
IIHF has long ago identified the organizers of the nearest World Championship. A year later, it will be played in Swiss towns Zurich and Friborg (from 15 to 31 May 2026), in 2027 the elite will welcome German cities Mannheim and Düsseldorf (14 – 30 May 2027) and will be played in Paris and Lyon in France from 12 May.
