If the lizards are too shy, take over the snails

After the chaotic sprouting Sunflower tetris of spring Now the garden renovation goes into the next round. But this time with system – and stones. For a natural dream garden, my better half and I tried a real classic: the dry wall. After all, they are part of the landscape between Wingerten and fruit trees on the Moselle.

So far, the mini dinosaurs cannot be seen with us.

The theory sounded tempting: layer stones, let cavities, no mortar, no – only pure nature. And best of all: lizards would move in! I had the little sun worshipers on reportage in Mëllerdall Watched between the rocks – Agile, charming, perfect garden dweller. So I actually saw small reptiles in front of my inner eye, which are loosening on my wall and eating insects like me otherwise popcorn in the cinema.

So far, the mini dinosaurs cannot be seen with us. Well, too bad. For this, other creatures have spread in the gaps: spinning. Many spiders. And a tiger snail that slim down with a remarkable determination.

Read too:

My colleagues already advised me to be patient. Admittedly, this is unfortunately not my strengths. And lizards may not like hustle and bustle, which is why my partner got a mowing ban. Instead, herbs now grow along the wall-for example thyme, the lizard favorite according to research-we do without chemical agents anyway.

It is probably true and the lizards just need a little more time. Or a better broker. Until then, my loyal tiger snail remains. It is not a sun worshiper – but at least loyal and reliable.

From the life of the LW journalists

The “gazettchen” is an informal column in which the authors legally tell about their everyday experiences or even give an insight into their thoughts. This has a long tradition: On December 3, 1946, an opinion with the title « Today » appears for the first time at the top of the side left on the first local side in the « Luxemburger Word ». On January 13, 1971, the « Gazettchen », which has been extremely popular with readers, then became the « gazette », which has kept its Premium-Platz in Luxembourg’s top-class daily newspaper to this day and across all layout.
