Identity Electronic Book available in Bucharest
Romanian citizens over 14 years of age with their domicile in Bucharest will be able to request, starting on Thursday, the issuance of an electronic identity card, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Wednesday.
According to the announcement published by May, the schedules will be carried out exclusively online, by accessing the Hub Services Portal https://hub.mai.gov.ro/cei/programari/
The first electronic identity cards are to be in possession of citizens who have their domicile in the Capital since May 12.
« The option to request an electronic identity card can be expressed at any time by the holder, regardless of the validity period of the current identity document, » said MIA.
It is estimated that, until the completion of the extension of the issuance at national level of the electronic identity card, the deadline for solving the application and issuance will have an average of 10 days. After operationalizing those at the level of the whole country, the waiting period for issuing the electronic identity document is expected to be diminished, MIA said.
The Ministry of Interior reminds that, with the completion of the technical activities by extending the issuance of the electronic identity card at national level, it will be possible to opt for the release of a simple identity card that will not contain electronic storage support (CIP) and which will be put into circulation in the last decade of May.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the main benefits of those, are standardized dimension, similar to bank cards, according to European norms, advanced security elements, which provide protection against falsification and identity theft, the possibility of using as a travel document, easy access to electronic services and the possibility of use for electronic signature.
