Iconic tower celebrates 120th birthday

Over the years, the 43.5 meter high tower has not only been a landmark for the garden, but also laid the framework for several spectacular moments:

“King Kong” in the Zoo: Once in the 1980s, a gibbonabe swung up to the top of the tower like another King King. Fortunately, the gibbon monkey came down the whole skin again.

Falcon Visits: A falcon falcon once settled in the tower. It had to be helped back to its falcon, but now we have installed a falcon box so that wild falcon can take a break at the top of the tower. (check if it when to get up)

Tingling romance: Over time, several couples have been allowed to be married in the tower – with lions and flamingos (down in the plants) as witnesses. There have also been numerous marriages.

New Year’s Eve: The Zoot Tower is used as a lookout post for fire guards who keep an eye on the garden when the party fireworks break loose.

Animal monitoring: The tower acts as a base for surveillance cameras that give us a unique look into the lions and polar bears’ facilities and behavior.

Antennas and Communication: At the top of the tower there is room for antennas-including Zoo’s own Walkie-Talkie system, which ensures that our employees can communicate effectively across the garden.

But the Zoot Tower is not just about views and fun moments – all ticket revenue from the tower goes directly to our work to protect endangered animal species. The money from the ticket goes to research, monitoring and collaborates with local organizations and authorities around the world.
