An Icelandic-Polish web dictionary has been opened on the world wide web. It contains 54 nouns along with numerous examples and words that are all translated into Polish.
This is stated in a statement from Ministry of Social Affairs and Housing.
It also states that the project is being prepared for financial contributions from the ministry and the dictionary is free of charge and accessible to everyone.
On behalf of the Institute of Arctic
« The dictionary has been working on the Institute of Archeology in recent years and this is a major turning point. The project manager Halldóra Jónsdóttir, ”says the announcement.
The dictionary is also based on the same basis as the web books Islex, Lexia and the Icelandic modern dictionary that the Arctic Institute also publishes.
The ninth in the series
The pronunciation of all Icelandic references is given with audio examples and links are in the inflection of Icelandic modern language.
The announcement states that the Icelandic-Polish web dictionary is the ninth in a series of bilinguals of the Arctic Institute.
« It is hoped that the dictionary will be useful as possible, not least the many residents of Iceland who have Polish in native language. »
