Iceland does not belong to America

There is a reason to get the name of the « bridge between the continent » which is changed in the Reykjanes peninsula. This is stated by Páll Einarsson, geoscientist and professor emeritus.

This place has been in the news lately due to a large hole or a geothermal that has formed there. It is a short distance from the footpath that lies on the bridge and it can be interesting to walk outside the track.

Cracks have also been found in Valahnúk, but the one goes into the sea near Reykjanesvita and is almost on the heel which is the southwest corner of Iceland.

« Like world affairs, these days »

But more about the elf bridge, which is sometimes called. It was put down in 2002 and is on the ground from Sandvík, which is somewhat south of the port of Höfn.

There is a large parking lot at the bridge and there is a short shovel around the paved walkway to the bridge itself. From the bridge you can walk down the sand in the gap and under this special structure

« Iceland has so far been considered to the European continent. America takes over in Greenland. This bridge does not reach there. As the world affairs are these days, no one is just about counting part of Iceland to the continent of America, » Paul writes on Facebook.

He believes here is a serious concept and the wrong significance of English. The bridge in question is certainly on the crustal leakage, but not on the aluminum separation.

Iceland in Europe

The rafts are, according to Paul, on the one hand the North American fleet and on the other the Eurasiaflek. The latter includes most of Europe and Asia.

It must be said that Iceland belongs to geographical and cultural Europe. The western part of Iceland sits on the North American fleet, the eastern part is on the Eurasiap.

« Do not spread the misunderstanding that part of Iceland belongs to America, » says Paul.
