Iceland celebrated in Osaka
Iceland was celebrated on its national day at the Osaka World Exhibition where the President of Iceland, Halla Tómasdóttir, was the guest of honor.
The headline of the day was peace and equality where numerous guests were given the opportunity to get to know the country and the nation through a variety of events. This is stated in a press release from the Icelandic Agency.
140,000 people attended the world show that day.
Halla had a chat with young people
The day began by the fact that Halla had a rich conversation with young people from Osaka on peace, future challenges, and the United Nations goal in sustainability. The discussion manager was Yuki Nakane, from the RCC media in Hiroshima.
Next, there was a president in Women’s Pavilion, where she participated in a conversation about women’s empowerment and gender equality with Sayuri Daimon, a journalist and former Japanese editorial officer. Ragnar Þorvarðarson, representative of Iceland’s participation in the World Exhibition, presented an opening address and spoke about the development of gender equality issues in Iceland.
The event was extremely well attended by guests and the media.
Vigdís in Japanese
In the Nordic pavilion, where Iceland is in collaboration with the other four Nordic countries, a literary event took place with Rán Flygenring image and writer and Shohei Akakura translator, on Ránar’s book, Vigdís: The book on the first woman president, which was recently published in Japanese.
The event was full of the event, but the mayor of Reykjavik, Heida Björg Hilmisdóttir, presented an opening address.
Woolen pits were on offer
The Icelandic design team Gagarín had special guidance on the hut’s exhibition throughout the day for guests, but it is estimated that about 600 guests have attended the guides and the designers braid and the rumor offered excited guests to the wool pipes.

The day ended at a festive event where the President of Iceland and the Deputy Minister of Economic, Business and Industry Japan, Yuichiro Koga addressed guests and the musicians Ásgeir, JFDR and Gabríel Ólafs played well-chosen songs.
This weekend, the Taste of Iceland Cultural Festival will take place in Tokyo, where the public in Japan is given the opportunity to attend events and get a taste of what Iceland has to offer in art, music, design, literature and natural beauty.
