I was surprised by the very low price of Lithuanian strawberries: are they really Lithuanian?
June 10, near the Dainava Marketplace, Polish strawberries were sold at 2.90 euros, Lithuanian – € 3.50 each.
In supermarkets, Lithuanian strawberries cost between 9 and 20 euros, and June 7, a farmers’ market in Chechnya Square, on Saturdays. The berries for the red -haired berries asked for eight euros.
People who sell Lithuanian strawberries in the ads seen a few days ago also wanted eight euros per kilogram. Only today did I see one woman selling strawberries grown in Dotnuva a little cheaper – six euros. Therefore, when I saw the price of Lithuanian strawberries written in the kiosk, I was much surprised.
« Is these really Lithuanian strawberries? They can’t cost it so cheaply when farmers sell these berries much more expensive, » I asked the kiosk salesmen.
« You can. Strawberries are really Lithuanian. I’m not the owner of the kiosk, only the seller, but I know that the berries were Lithuanian, » the woman swore.
The berries of the appearance did not differ much. Taste – too. Farmers selling strawberries are much more expensive to say that Lithuanian strawberries would not be so cheap to sell so cheaply.
« I could also sell them for nine euros, » the seller ironized.
Last year, strawberries were the cheapest in Kaunas in early June. In this kiosk, a kilo of Greek strawberries then cost € 1.80.
